APC PRIMARIES: The internal crisis rocking the Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has intensified following widespread protests by aggrieved party supporters, aspirants, women groups, and youths over the conduct of the party’s recently concluded primary elections.

Multiple demonstrations reportedly broke out across Jos and surrounding local government areas as protesters accused party leaders of manipulating results, imposing candidates, and undermining internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to reports monitored by Headlineswave.ng tensions escalated after several aspirants and their supporters rejected outcomes announced by party officials.

Women Demand Recognition Of Alleged Winner

In Bassa Local Government Area, women and widows staged a protest over the APC House of Representatives primaries for the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency.

The demonstrators insisted that their preferred aspirant, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Incham, popularly known as “Oga Perfect,” won overwhelmingly in the exercise.

According to the protesters, voting reportedly took place peacefully across most wards in Bassa, but concerns emerged after party officials allegedly attempted to announce another candidate despite the claimed outcome.

The women called on the national leadership of the APC to intervene and recognize what they described as the authentic result of the primary election.

APC Heavyweights Petition Appeal Committee

The controversy further deepened after prominent APC stakeholders reportedly submitted petitions demanding the cancellation and rescheduling of the primaries.

Among those mentioned in the protest movement were Senator Diket Plang, Ambassador Chris Giwa, Hon. Gyang Zi, and Senator I.D. Gyang.

Addressing journalists in Jos, the aggrieved aspirants reportedly alleged widespread irregularities, procedural violations, and the announcement of results in some places without proper voting.

The group warned that failure to address the complaints could damage the unity and credibility of the party in Plateau State.

Youths Reject Alleged Result Manipulation

In Jos South, youths and stakeholders within the APC also rejected what they described as attempts to manipulate the House of Assembly primary election results.

A youth leader, Comrade Andrew Dalyop, reportedly called for transparency and urged party leaders to respect the wishes of grassroots members.

He warned against replacing candidates allegedly chosen by party members with individuals imposed through internal arrangements.

Protesters Burn APC Flags In Jos North
The most dramatic protest reportedly occurred in Jos North Local Government Area, where angry youths took to the streets over allegations that the mandate of Hon. Adamu Aliyu could be overturned.

Some demonstrators were seen burning APC flags and symbolic brooms while chanting against alleged political imposition and godfatherism.

The unrest reportedly spread to Angwan Rukuba Junction, where supporters of another aspirant, Harry Ishaya, blocked roads and demanded recognition of votes cast during the primary exercise.

Reactions Trail The Crisis

The development has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with many political observers warning that the growing internal divisions could weaken the APC in Plateau State ahead of future elections.

While some commenters accused the party of failing to conduct transparent primaries, others dismissed the protests as politically motivated.

As of the time of filing this report, there had been no detailed official response from the Plateau State APC leadership addressing the allegations raised by protesters and aspirants.
