Peter Obi’s Channels TV Interview
Prominent activist and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, has expressed disappointment over the recent television interview granted by Peter Obi on Channels Television, describing the session as repetitive and unproductive.
Reacting in a video shared on her social media platforms after Obi’s one-on-one interview with journalist Seun Okinbaloye, Yesufu said she was “absolutely irritated” because the discussion failed to introduce new ideas or questions.
According to her, Peter Obi has repeatedly addressed the same issues in previous interviews, making the latest appearance feel like “a waste of time” for viewers.
“I absolutely feel irritated by the whole thing. Usually, when Peter Obi grants an interview, there’s excitement about what he is going to say. But this one was the same conversation all over again. There was nothing he said that had not been said before,” she stated.
Yesufu argued that media interviewers should move beyond asking Obi the same questions and instead challenge him with fresh issues or policy-focused discussions that would provide Nigerians with new insights.
She also questioned why public attention remains heavily focused on Obi’s interviews while, according to her, some other political figures are rarely subjected to similar scrutiny.
The comments have generated widespread reactions across social media, with some supporters agreeing that Obi’s media engagements need a new direction, while others defended the former Anambra governor, arguing that repeating his policy positions helps reinforce his message ahead of the 2027 elections.
