The Labour Party in Plateau State has successfully elected a new State Executive Committee (Exco) in a peaceful and well-monitored congress, further strengthening the authority of the party’s nationally recognized leadership under Senator Nenadi Usman.
The state congress, which held on Saturday at Labour House, opposite Ola Hospital in Jos, drew party faithful, delegates, observers, and stakeholders from across the state. The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC were present
The well attended election was conducted by the state congress election committee headed by Pastor Ishiaku who ensured compliance with electoral guidelines and internal party regulations.

Headlineswave.ng gathered that the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) was duely notified. Security agencies were also present throughout the exercise to maintain law and order, while members of the media witnessed proceedings, lending transparency and credibility to the congress.
The newly elected state chairman described the successful conduct of the congress as a clear signal that the Labour Party in Plateau State remains united and focused, dismissing speculations of any factional division within the state chapter.

Stakeholders present emphasized that the emergence of the new Exco aligns with the recent judicial and institutional recognition of the Senator Nenadi Usman-led leadership structure at the national level, which they say has continued to restore stability and order within the party.
According to party officials, the recognition by the courts and the acknowledgment of the Nenadi Usman-led leadership by INEC have put to rest lingering disputes over the party’s authentic leadership, thereby giving state chapters the confidence to conduct lawful congresses nationwide.
Speaking after the election, stakeholders commended delegates for their orderly conduct and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party ahead of future elections, particularly as political realignments begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The successful conduct of this congress today is proof that Labour Party in Plateau State is one, united, and ready to deliver credible leadership to the people,” one of the party leaders said.
Observers say the development may further consolidate the party’s grassroots structure in Plateau State, a state considered strategic in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
The newly elected officials are expected to immediately begin reconciliation efforts, membership mobilization, and strategic planning to position the party strongly for upcoming electoral contests.
