I Thought My Big Dreams Had Ended’ – Passenger Recounts Terrifying Enugu Air Crash-Landing at Benin Airport
A passenger aboard the Enugu Air aircraft that crash-landed at Benin Airport on Thursday has shared a chilling account of the incident, describing it as the most frightening experience of his life.
In an emotional narration posted after surviving the ordeal, the passenger said he believed his life was about to end as the aircraft battled heavy rain while attempting to land.
According to him, visibility had become extremely poor during the flight due to the downpour, leaving him wondering how the pilot could safely navigate the aircraft.
“I survived a plane crash today. I kept thinking, ‘So this is how I would have died. So this is how all my big dreams would have ended.’ I’ve watched plane crashes in movies and on social media, but I never imagined I would experience one myself,” he wrote.
The passenger recalled that as the aircraft descended toward Benin Airport, the pilot reportedly circled several times in search of a safe landing path because visibility was severely limited.
He claimed the aircraft eventually veered off the runway into nearby bushland, triggering panic inside the cabin.
“People were screaming. Some people suffered injuries. I believe the heavy rain prevented the plane from catching fire. I walked away without any injuries or body pain. God truly saved my life,” he added.
The passenger’s account has since gone viral on social media, with many Nigerians expressing gratitude that lives were spared while also calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, aviation authorities have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the runway excursion, while Enugu Air has maintained that all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
