FG Begins ₦50,000 Monthly Relief Payments to Nigerians: Check Your Eligibility With These USSD Codes

The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of ₦50,000 monthly financial support to eligible poor and vulnerable Nigerians under its National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The intervention is designed to provide immediate financial assistance to households struggling with rising food prices and the increasing cost of essential goods.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, announced the commencement of the programme in a statement issued on October 30, 2026.

According to the minister, the initiative is a Federal Government intervention aimed at cushioning the economic difficulties faced by vulnerable households across the country.

How to Check Your Eligibility

Nigerians can check whether they have been selected by dialling the designated USSD code of their participating financial service provider.

The approved payment channels and their respective codes are:

ALAT by Wema Bank: 94523#
MTN MoMo PSB: 6710#
NairaGram: 72600#
OPay: 95520#
Moniepoint: 557327#

After dialling the appropriate code, users should follow the instructions and select the eligibility-check option where available.

The programme also allows eligible beneficiaries to receive notifications through SMS from their designated payment providers.

Who Qualifies for the ₦50,000 Support?
According to the official programme guidelines, beneficiaries are selected from verified national identity records and the National Social Register.

The selection process is targeted at poor and vulnerable households, meaning that not every Nigerian will automatically qualify.

The government has also explained that beneficiaries will be contacted in batches, so those who are not selected in the current phase may not necessarily have been permanently excluded.

Importantly, Nigerians do not need to submit a fresh application or pay an agent to secure a place on the beneficiary list.
Important Warning Against Fraud

The Federal Government has warned Nigerians against individuals demanding money to facilitate access to the relief funds.

The NERSI programme is completely free. No official or agent is authorised to collect money from prospective beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries are also advised never to disclose their ATM PIN, One-Time Password (OTP), BVN or other sensitive banking information to anyone claiming to represent the programme.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact the official NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.

Headlineswave independently checked the information against the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction’s official NERSI programme website and the minister’s October 30 announcement.

The ₦50,000 support is a monthly intervention for selected beneficiaries, not an automatic entitlement for every Nigerian. Eligibility must be confirmed through the designated payment channels.
