Like Father, Unlike Son: Soludo’s Son Dances to Obi’s NDC Campaign Song; Mother Denies Video
Ozonna’s latest viral appearance revives memories of his previous political expressions in support of Peter Obi, despite his parents’ different political leanings.
The political differences within Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s family have again become a subject of public discussion following a viral video purportedly showing his son, Ozonna Soludo, dancing to a campaign song associated with Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The video, which began circulating on Monday, November 2, shows Ozonna enthusiastically dancing to the NDC campaign song, with the party’s logo and Peter Obi’s photograph displayed alongside the footage.
The development has attracted attention because of the apparent contrast between the young musician’s political preferences and those of his father, who has been mobilising political support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
However, the video has also generated controversy following a denial by Ozonna’s mother, Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo.
In a statement issued through her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, the First Lady said the video did not originate from her son, describing it as doctored and falsely attributed to him.
She also identified an individual named Kelechi Simon, reportedly a medical radiographer based in Delta State, as being linked to the video’s creation and circulation.
The statement warned those spreading the footage against misinformation and possible legal consequences.
A History of Political Differences
Interestingly, the latest controversy is not the first time Ozonna has attracted attention for publicly expressing views that appear different from his father’s political positions.
In July 2026, Ozonna shared a video of himself dancing and singing to a politically critical song targeting several Nigerian politicians, including President Tinubu and his father.
The song contained the line, “Tinubu, shame unto you, all power belongs to Jesus.”
When the lyrics mentioned his father, Soludo, Ozonna continued dancing, drawing widespread reactions across social media.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria published on July 5, 2026, the video was personally shared by Ozonna on his social media page.
Even before that incident, Ozonna had publicly expressed support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election, making his political preferences a recurring subject of online conversations.
A fact-check by Nigerian Democratic Report in July 2026 also documented his earlier support for Obi and examined false claims that Governor Soludo had disowned him over his political expressions.
Father and Son, Different Political Directions?
The latest episode comes at a particularly interesting time.
Governor Soludo has taken an active role in mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election, while Peter Obi, his former political associate and predecessor as Anambra governor, is now associated with the NDC’s 2027 presidential project.
The apparent contrast has given the viral video an additional political dimension.
Nevertheless, dancing to a campaign song does not automatically amount to formal membership of a political party or an official endorsement of its candidate. Equally, the mother’s denial of the video’s origin does not erase Ozonna’s previously documented public political expressions.
Whether the latest footage was edited or presented out of its original context, Ozonna’s earlier public positions demonstrate that he has not always followed the political preferences of his parents.
Perhaps the more interesting question is whether political loyalty is a family inheritance or a personal choice.
