PRESS RELEASE.

The Trust Tinubu Again Support Group (TRUSTA) has reaffirmed its confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following media reports concerning the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and allegations involving the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Reacting to headlines alleging appointment racketeering and financial misconduct, the group said while such allegations are serious, they should be subjected to proper investigation rather than being decided in the court of public opinion.
According to the National Coordinator of TRUSTA, Hon. Stephen Bond, Nigerians should allow the country’s accountability institutions to carry out their constitutional responsibilities without undue interference.
“President Tinubu came into office with a clear mandate to reform Nigeria’s governance and fiscal systems. Such reforms inevitably challenge entrenched interests, and allegations and counter-allegations are bound to arise whenever transparency disrupts existing power structures,” Bond said.
President’s Commitment to Accountability
TRUSTA stated that since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has introduced measures aimed at strengthening financial oversight across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The group noted that the PFIPC was established to facilitate foreign partnerships and attract development grants for key sectors of the economy.
It maintained that any allegation regarding the reported ₦27.4 billion grant should be thoroughly investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the National Assembly.
The group stressed that it would support whatever outcome emerges from a transparent investigation based strictly on evidence.
Gbajabiamila Entitled to Fair Hearing
TRUSTA also referenced the public denial issued by the Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, regarding allegations of ₦600 million appointment racketeering.
The group described Gbajabiamila as a seasoned public servant whose tenure as Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives was marked by significant legislative activity.
It argued that the allegations against him should be investigated objectively, insisting that due process requires investigation before conclusions are reached.
Reforms Should Not Be Distracted
According to the group, President Tinubu’s reforms—including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange unification, tax reforms and efforts to attract foreign direct investment—are beginning to produce measurable results.
TRUSTA warned that sensational reporting and politically motivated controversies could distract public attention from ongoing economic reforms.
“The PFIPC is a strategic institution. If there are proven lapses, President Tinubu has demonstrated that he will not shield anyone. However, Nigerians must distinguish between legitimate oversight and coordinated attempts to portray the Presidency as being in crisis,” Bond added.
TRUSTA’s Calls
The organisation called on:
The EFCC, ICPC and other anti-corruption agencies to conduct a swift, transparent and professional investigation into all PFIPC transactions.
The National Assembly to exercise its oversight responsibilities responsibly and without political bias.
The media to uphold professional ethics by reporting facts and avoiding premature conclusions before investigations are completed.
Nigerians to continue supporting democratic institutions and the reform agenda of the Tinubu administration.
Concluding the statement, Bond said:
“Trust is earned through action, not slogans. President Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the national interest. TRUSTA will continue to support those reforms and encourage every process that promotes transparency, accountability and national development.”
Signed
